How API credits and billing work
API access uses a pay-as-you-go credit balance. This balance is separate from the credits on a GPTHuman subscription.
Important: API credits are separate from GPTHuman subscription credits. Credits purchased for API usage cannot be used in the web app, and subscription credits cannot be used with the API.
About your API credit balance
- API credits are only for API usage.
- They cannot replace a personal GPTHuman subscription.
- Subscription credits cannot be used with the API.
- API credits do not expire.
- API credits do not refresh monthly like subscription credits.
You can review your remaining balance from the API Keys tab. For technical details about how requests consume credits, see the developer documentation.
How to buy credits
- Open the API Dashboard.
- Select the Billing tab.
- Add or update your payment method.
- Choose a credit package.
- Confirm the purchase.
Your saved payment method is charged immediately, and the credits are added to your API balance.
Auto recharge
- Open the Billing tab.
- Turn on Auto recharge credits.
- Choose the package to buy when a top-up happens.
- Choose the balance threshold that triggers the recharge.
- Click Save.
When your remaining credits fall below that threshold, GPTHuman charges your saved payment method and adds the selected package.
Low-balance email notifications
- Open Email notifications on the Billing tab.
- Enter an email address.
- Enter the credit threshold.
- Click Add notification.
You can add more than one notification and delete them at any time.
Invoices
Invoices appear on the Billing tab after a purchase. You can view or download them from there.
